The 2019-2020 School Year Brings Four New Superintendents to Our Region

Lee Petty

Mr. Lee Petty, Queets-Clearwater School District

Mr. Lee Petty began his position as the Principal/Superintendent in Queets-Clearwater School District in August 2019.  After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education K-8 from Glenville State College in West Virginia, he achieved his Masters degree in School Administration from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

With thirteen years of experience as a teacher and six years of experience as an administrator, his teaching career began in 1997 as a 6th grade multi-subjects teacher in Moab, Utah.  “Since then, I have had many wonderful opportunities to expand my capabilities in a variety of educational settings ranging from special education to a one room k-8 classroom. In my last position as an associate principal, I was working in a school of about 800 students and over 90 staff.” says Petty.

As he launches his first year at Queets-Clearwater, he stated, “This year I hope to establish and cultivate relationships with our school community members, staff, students and parents, so that our school can continue to grow and give our kids the best educational opportunities and guidance so they may reach their potential both as students and as people.”

Erin Prince

Dr. Erin Prince, Central Kitsap School District

Dr. Erin Prince began as superintendent of Central Kitsap Schools on July 1, 2019.

Dr. Prince has dedicated her career to public education. She served as superintendent of the Corvallis School District in Oregon for five years. Before that, she was assistant superintendent and human resources director for the Sherwood School District.

Dr. Prince started her career in the classroom, where she taught for 13 years. She later worked as an elementary school principal, grant writer, adjunct professor and curriculum, instruction and assessment specialist. Most recently, she headed her own consulting company, after two years as vice president of education policy for the nonprofit Chalkboard Project.

She states, “It is a tremendous honor to serve as superintendent of Central Kitsap Schools. I’ve been so impressed with the high quality of education here, and with the partnership I’ve seen between the schools and our community. There’s such a focus on student-centered success, on equity, and on building strong relationships. It’s a great place!”

Tim Winter

Mr. Tim Winter, South Kitsap School District

South Kitsap School District welcomed Mr. Tim Winter as its new Superintendent on July 1, 2019.

He brings with him twenty-eight years of experience in education and had served as superintendent of Clarkston School District since 2014.  Prior to that, he served as principal and assistant principal at Peninsula High School in the Peninsula School District. He also taught at the elementary, middle, and the high school levels.  Mr. Winter earned his superintendent’s credential from Washington State University and administrative credentials from Eastern Washington University.

 Before he began his South Kitsap Superintendency, he stated, “I am impressed with the programs, academics, activities, and athletic opportunities for students in South Kitsap. My goal is for these programs to continue to thrive and support student achievement into the future. I believe there is exciting community growth on the horizon that will enhance the high level of success that already exists across the district.”

Robert Clark

Dr. Robert Clark, Sequim School District

Dr. Clark joined Sequim School District from Milton-Freewater, Oregon, where he had served as Superintendent since 2013.  With a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and graduate work in Athletic Administration, Dr. Clark has dedicated his career to supporting students in K-12 education. Dr. Clark’s dedication is evident in the many achievements he has helped accomplish, including the passing of a construction bond that led to Milton-Freewater’s first new facility in 98 years, and increasing the diversity and bilingual rates of his staff to better reflect the community’s demographics.

At the August Sequim School District Board Meeting, he noted that he would like to implement the Strategic Plan and will begin the discussion of a facility/bond measure.
