OESD 114 Superintendent Dr. Aaron Leavell visited the Sequim School District on Monday, October 20, 2025, to present the 2026 Regional Teacher of the Year Award to Shannon Green, a dedicated second-grade teacher at Greywolf Elementary known for her exceptional work in literacy instruction and student engagement.
With 19 years of service in education, Ms. Green has made a profound impact on her students and school community. Specializing in literacy for struggling readers, she uses the University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) intervention curriculum to provide systematic, targeted support that helps students build confidence and achieve success as readers. Her classroom emphasizes phonemic awareness, reading fluency, and word recognition through small-group lessons, hands-on activities, and a strong sense of community.
Greywolf Elementary Principal Jennifer Lopez describes Shannon as “a deeply committed and transformative educator who connects with students, tailors instruction to individual needs, and fosters both academic and personal growth.”
Beyond her classroom, Shannon’s leadership shines through mentoring colleagues, coordinating creative learning experiences, and maintaining strong family partnerships. A National Board Certified Teacher, she embodies the commitment to collaboration, growth, and student-centered learning.
OESD 114 congratulates Shannon Green on this well-deserved honor and proudly celebrates her as the 2026 Regional Teacher of the Year for the Olympic region.
