Sequim’s Carrie Johnson Recognized as Regional Classified Employee of the Year

2024 Regional Classified Employee of the Year Carrie Johnson receives award

On October 21, 2024, at the Sequim School Board meeting, OESD 114 Superintendent Aaron Leavell and OESD Board Director Jim Stoffer presented Carrie Johnson with the 2024 Regional Classified Employee of the Year award. A dedicated Resource Para-Educator for the Sequim School District, Carrie has been serving students since 2017, bringing a remarkable history of experience and community involvement.

Carrie’s career began as a high school teacher’s aide in a Life Skills class, followed by four years of volunteering in her children’s classrooms before becoming a permanent staff member. Beyond her work in schools, Carrie is an active community leader: a 4-H club leader guiding youth in service projects, a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, and a board member across multiple community organizations (PTA and preschool).

Carrie emphasizes the importance of relationship-building in her work, focusing on trust, understanding, and respect to foster an inclusive environment. By engaging personally with students, she tailors her support to their strengths and challenges, creating a welcoming atmosphere that encourages student engagement and success.

Passionate about her daily work, Carrie utilizes tools like a daily behavior chart to track student progress and maintain open communication with parents, who appreciate her dedication. She also bridges her roles as an educator and safety technician to support families, including those with special needs.

Her colleagues describe her as a hardworking, conscientious individual who consistently exceeds expectations and creates a positive classroom environment. Known for her exceptional support to administrators, teachers, students, and families, Carrie truly is an invaluable employee at Sequim School District. OESD 114 is proud to celebrate her achievements.
