    Paraeducator Program

    What is a paraeducator?

    Paraeducators are known by several names: parapro, paraprofessional, teacher assistant or educational assistant. Based on guidance from the US Department of Education, a paraeducator is a non-certificated employee who is assigned responsibilities that include assistance with instruction. Paraeducators are required to meet certain competencies and standards, as set forth by Washington State Legislature.

    The Olympic ESD 114 services the paraeducators that work in the 15 school districts on the Olympic Peninsula, Kitsap County and parts of Mason County:
