We are proud to share that the Chimacum School District Board of Directors has been named the Washington State School Directors’ Association (WSSDA) 2025 Small District Board of the Year! This prestigious honor recognizes their outstanding leadership, commitment to narrowing opportunity gaps, and measurable impact on student success. Chimacum’s board has championed practices and community partnerships that have improved attendance, reduced discipline rates, and raised achievement across the district.
This recognition follows Chimacum’s selection as one of 49 Boards of Distinction statewide, a testament to their dedication to governance that drives positive outcomes. Read more about this achievement in Peninsula Daily News and on WSSDA’s official announcement.
We also celebrate other OESD-region districts honored as Boards of Distinction:
- Large Districts: Central Kitsap and South Kitsap
- Medium Districts: Bremerton and Sequim
- Small Districts: Chimacum and Port Townsend
Among these, Chimacum achieved the highest honor as Board of the Year for Small Districts. Each year, one board from each category receives additional recognition as Board of the Year, and Chimacum proudly represents our region in this elite group.
Congratulations to Chimacum and all our regional boards for setting a high bar for excellence in education!
