Representative Laurie Dolan holding framed artwork "Toppling Books" This year’s AESD President’s Award was presented socially-distanced style to Representative Laurie Dolan on June 30, 2020, via Zoom due to the current COVID-19 pandemic (see photos below) by President Carl Johnson, OESD 114.  “Toppling Books” (an original art piece by Claire Christen of North Kitsap High School) won this year’s “People’s Choice” Award at the OESD 114 Annual Regional Superintendent’s Art Show and was selected to accompany the President’s Award.  Because the original piece will now reside with Representative Dolan, a high resolution copy will be displayed inside the OESD 114 building.

Representative Dolan expressed her gratitude for the gift of artwork she received noting, “I started my career as a first grade teacher, so your wonderful depiction of the young girl is especially meaningful to me.  As soon as our offices physically re-open, I know the exact wall for your picture to be displayed.”  And to the artist Claire Christen, she shared the following message, “Rest assured that the many people who come through my office will enjoy your talent!”

Each year, the AESD selects a President’s Award recipient who has demonstrated leadership and engagement with ESDs (staff or partners).  The award itself is chosen by the current AESD President’s home ESD, which in this case was OESD 114.

Representative Dolan, thank you for your service!
