A little bit about our Classified Employee of the Year –
Dara Sellars, ASB/Internal Controls, Central Kitsap School District:
Honored for her long list of strengths and talents (and for her amazing sense of humor), Dara Sellars has worked in education for fourteen years after serving twenty years in the restaurant business. “In an ironic twist of fate, my first role as an educational employee was as a high school in-school suspension monitor,” she wrote. She recalls having a natural gift for mentoring students and making meaningful connections. Ms. Sellar’s desire to advance brought an opportunity to become the Olympic High School ASB bookkeeper and later was promoted to the district’s ASB supervisor position. She served an interim stint as the Human Resources assistant director and returned to work in the Business Office at Central Kitsap School District.
Superintendent David McVicker said this about Ms. Sellars, “Dara Sellars exemplifies a team player. Her positive support, dedication and flexibility demonstrate her value far beyond what is expected or hoped for. We should all be so fortunate as to have a staff member like her.”
Ms. Sellars considers herself “fortunate to work in a job, and in a district, that puts student support and success at the forefront of every decision.”
The Olympic Educational Service District is proud to have such an outstanding employee to honor. Congratulations, Ms. Sellars!
